Scouting presence adds external focus
The sixth day of Arkansas Razorbacks training camp unfolded under a blistering sun, with coaches staging a live‑tackling drill that culminated in a dramatic touchdown.
Quarterback KJ Jackson orchestrated a 61‑yard march that set up the score, threading a pass to tight end Ty Lockwood down the middle as defensive pressure mounted.
Lockwood’s score arrived with just two seconds left on the clock, turning the final snap of the drill into a decisive moment for the offense.
Defensive tackle David Oke acknowledged the team’s lingering tackling issues, but praised the overall energy and pursuit displayed during the live periods.
Coaches Kynjee Cotton and Landius Wilkerson used the session to stress fundamental tackling techniques, urging individual improvement across the unit.
The practice also drew a contingent of NFL scouts, including representatives from the Arizona Cardinals, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, New York Jets, Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys, while former Arkansas track coach Chris Bucknam watched from the sidelines.
Earlier in the session, Jackson’s drive included a false start by tailback Jasper Parker, a 27‑yard gain by Jamari Hawkins on third‑and‑10, and a one‑yard reception by Markeylin Batton before a penalty halted momentum.
Later, Lockwood added a 22‑yard touchdown reception from Jackson, sealing an early two‑minute drill before the team moved on to live tackling once media departed.
With practice slated to resume on Wednesday and Thursday, offensive line coaches Jeff Myers and Marcus Johnson are scheduled to address the media after the seventh session.
