Joey Logano captured his first victory of the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season at North Wilkesboro, leading 323 of the 400 laps and securing the win in dominant fashion.
Denny Hamlin finished second, while Chase Briscoe, Ty Gibbs, Shane van Gisbergen and Bubba Wallace rounded out the top five.
Qualifying Chaos and Early Setbacks
Rain forced a postponement of qualifying, pushing Ryan Blaney to the pole position for Sunday's race. Ty Gibbs, who led the field to the green flag, incurred a pit‑road speeding penalty that dropped him to the tail end of the field.
Stage Dominance and a Clean Finish
Logano claimed the second‑stage victory, then carried that momentum into the final stage, which unfolded without a caution. He fended off Hamlin's late rally to cross the line first.
Playoff Picture Takes Shape
The win lifted Logano above the Chase cutoff by a 49‑point margin, while Shane van Gisbergen extended his buffer to 54 points in 14th. Erik Jones slipped below the line to 17th, facing a 33‑point deficit, and Austin Cindric held the final Chase spot at 16th.
Points leader Denny Hamlin widened his advantage, extending his lead over Tyler Reddick and Ryan Blaney by 68 and 87 points respectively. Blaney, Hamlin and Reddick are the only drivers who have already clinched Chase spots.
Looking Ahead to Indianapolis
The NASCAR Cup Series will next head to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400, where the In‑Season Challenge finals will pit Blaney against Todd Gilliland for a $1 million prize.
