Joey Logano surged to victory at North Wilkesboro Speedway, claiming his first NASCAR Cup Series win of the 2026 season and snapping a winless run that began in May 2025.
The 29‑year‑old dominated the 0.625‑mile historic track, leading 323 of the 450 laps after seizing the lead in Stage 2, a performance that pushed his consecutive‑season win streak to 15 years.
A Revitalized Track
North Wilkesboro, a circuit built in 1947 and left idle for a quarter‑century, was revived by Speedway Motorsports, which cleared weeds and trees that had grown through the middle of the layout, restoring the venue for its recent All‑Star events.
The night also featured a dramatic showdown in the NASCAR In‑Season Challenge, where Ryan Blaney and Todd Gilliland advanced to the final, a $1 million showdown that will be decided at the upcoming Brickyyard 400 in Indianapolis.
Tyler Reddick’s race ended in a wreck on lap 184 after Alex Bowman cut him off, while Blaney battled a power‑steering issue and a speeding penalty on pit road that dropped him from the top five, costing him valuable positions.
Other contenders such as Denny Hamlin, Chase Briscoe, Ty Gibbs and Shane Van Gisbergen followed Logano in the finishing order, with the veteran Kyle Busch’s record streak of 19 straight seasons still standing as the benchmark.
