London Johnson, a 4‑star high school recruit from the 2022 class, was dismissed from the University of Louisville men’s basketball team after a violation of team rules and university policy. The move comes as the Cardinals confront a thin backcourt, with senior guard Seth Trimble ruled ineligible due to an injury.
Johnson had bucked the traditional college path, signing a two‑year contract with the NBA’s G‑League Ignite. In his rookie season he posted 10.5 points and 3.0 assists per game, and the following year he improved to 10.6 points and 4.9 assists, drawing attention from NBA scouts.
Although he did not enter the 2024 NBA Draft, Johnson was selected 21st overall by the Maine Celtics in the 2024 G‑League Draft. He appeared in three games for the Celtics, averaging 2.3 points, 1.0 rebound and 1.0 assist before being waived.
After his release, Johnson signed with the Cleveland Charge, the G‑League affiliate of the Cleveland Cavaliers, seeking a fresh opportunity to showcase his playmaking abilities.
