A Strategic Boost for the Longhorns
Texas has locked down its point guard position for the 2026 campaign by agreeing to terms with Isaiah Johnson and Mantas Laurencikas, two prospects who bring contrasting strengths to the roster.
Johnson arrives as a rising sophomore who made an immediate impact at Colorado, where he set the school's freshman scoring record. His reputation for dynamic playmaking and youthful energy positions him to inject fresh creativity into the Longhorns' offense.
Complementing Johnson, Laurencikas is an international guard from Lithuania who comes with four years of eligibility remaining. In the under‑21 LNB Espoirs league he posted averages of 13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists, underscoring his ability to contribute across the board.
The additions come as the program finalizes a roster that is already shaping up to be competitive in the upcoming season. With a blend of home‑grown talent and overseas experience, the Longhorns aim to build on recent progress and contend for a strong finish in 2026.
