Texas Longhorns have significantly bolstered their 2027 recruiting class with the addition of five‑star offensive lineman Ismael Camara and four‑star defensive back Brandon Sherrard.
A Recruiting Surge for the Longhorns
Camara, ranked No. 20 nationally by 247Sports' composite rankings, chose Texas over traditional powerhouses such as Alabama, LSU and Michigan.
Standing 6‑foot‑6 and weighing 340 pounds, Camara moved to Gilmer after a stint in France and made his varsity debut in the 2025‑26 season, quickly emerging as one of the most sought‑after prospects in the country.
He will be coached by offensive line coach Kyle Flood, who has a track record of developing talents like Kelvin Banks Jr. and Trevor Goosby.
Sherrard, a multisport track star listed at 6‑foot‑1 and 180 pounds, also committed in July after receiving offers from LSU, Texas A&M, Oklahoma and Notre Dame.
The overall class is currently ranked No. 4 by 247Sports and No. 5 by On3, featuring the top defensive back in the nation, John Meredith II, and the top wide receiver, Easton Royal.
Meredith, although ruled ineligible for varsity competition at North Crowley High School, is cleared to play at Euless Trinity, adding depth to the Longhorns' defensive backfield.
