After a storied tenure that began in 1989, Jennifer Rockwood, the longtime head coach of BYU women's soccer, revealed that she will retire at the conclusion of the 2026 NCAA season. Her announcement comes as the program prepares to honor her contributions throughout the final year of her contract.
A Legacy Defined by Excellence
Over three decades, Rockwood transformed a club team into a national powerhouse, guiding the Cougars to 26 NCAA Tournament appearances, a National Championship game in 2021 and a College Cup Semifinal in 2023. Her teams captured 17 regular‑season titles and nine conference tournament championships, compiling more than 470 victories along the way.
Rockwood’s impact extends beyond the field. She has mentored 24 All‑Americans and 13 Academic All‑Americans, helped 18 former players launch professional careers, and oversaw BYU’s first top‑25 ranking in 1997. The 2026 season will feature special tributes to celebrate her career.
Following the season, a national search for her successor will commence, ensuring the program continues to build on the foundation she has laid. The university, located in Provo, Utah, and with roots in Oregon’s Lake Oswego community, will look to preserve the culture of excellence Rockwood established.
