Longtime UT Tyler Baseball Coach Brent Porche Steps Down for Financial Advisory Career

After a decade of leading the Patriots to historic championships, including a Division III title, Porche joins New York Life as a financial advisor.

Brent Porche, who has steered the UT Tyler Patriots baseball program for a decade, announced his resignation on Monday, citing a desire to focus on a new career as a financial advisor with New York Life.

His departure comes after a tenure that produced a Division III NCAA championship in 2018 and back‑to‑back appearances in the Division II College World Series, a run that cemented his status as the winningest coach in program history.

A Legacy of Excellence

Compiling a 345‑151 record over ten seasons, Porche guided the Patriots to a 50‑14 overall mark in 2026, capturing both the Lone Star Conference regular‑season title and tournament championship.

The team also produced eleven All‑Americans and 27 All‑Regional honorees, while Porche earned ABCA National Coach of the Year in 2018 and was named Regional Coach of the Year in 2025 and 2026.

Before arriving in Tyler, Porche built a successful foundation at Louisiana State University Alexandria, where he captured two Red River Conference titles and led the program to three NAIA National Tournament appearances.

Across his entire coaching career he posted a 492‑232 record with a .678 winning percentage, a testament to his consistent ability to develop talent and sustain competitive teams.

In a statement released to the press, Porche expressed deep gratitude to his family, former coaches, and the student‑athletes who “made every challenge worthwhile,” and he looked forward to the next chapter with New York Life.

University officials said a press conference will be held on Tuesday, June 23 at 10 a.m. to introduce the new head coach, marking the start of a new era for the Patriots program.
