A packed fall ahead for Lancers
Longwood University’s field hockey program has released its 2024 fall schedule, a 17‑match slate that blends non‑conference road trips with a rigorous MAC conference campaign. Head coach Miranda Rigg said the plan balances early home exposure with challenging away fixtures.
The season opens on August 30 with a home game against Queens, and the Lancers will soon test themselves against regional foes such as William & Mary, Richmond, Davidson and Liberty. Those early contests set the tone for a schedule that features five non‑conference matchups before the team dives into conference play.
Non‑conference road trips and early tests
Conference action kicks off on September 17 when Longwood travels to Miami (Ohio). Early in the league slate the team will enjoy a home‑field advantage, winning four of its first six matches on campus before the schedule turns more demanding.

October brings a Midwest swing, with the Lancers heading to Michigan to meet Central Michigan and Michigan State. The trip is followed by a stretch of three straight home games against Kent State, Ohio and UMass, giving fans a chance to rally behind the team as it builds momentum.

The regular season wraps up with a home contest against Bucknell on November 1, after which the MAC tournament will run from November 4 to 7, featuring the top six teams and offering a final push toward the postseason.
