A Legacy of Excellence
The Los Gatos High School field hockey program has cemented its reputation as a powerhouse, posting a 22‑1 record last season and securing 18 Central Coast Section titles over the past three decades under longtime Coach Henry Reyes.
With 24 players returning, the Wildcats blend seasoned veterans with a wave of juniors who have already tasted national competition, positioning the team to hit the ground running in the new campaign.
Senior Leaders Step Up
Senior co‑captains Stiene Bastien and Stella Musser embody that blend of experience and ambition; Bastien will anchor a defense that has recorded 21 shutouts in 23 matches, while Musser will look to fire the offense that helped the squad outscore playoff opponents 7‑0.
Their leadership is reinforced by a community that rallies behind the program, from parental support that includes the Musser family’s involvement to local sponsors that keep the tradition alive.
Non‑League Tests on the Horizon
To fine‑tune their approach, the Wildcats open the season with a series of non‑league matchups against Homestead, Branham, St. Francis and Stevenson, using those contests to pinpoint strengths and expose areas for growth.
Tradition Meets Modern Play
Coach Reyes stresses that the team’s success hinges on chemistry, adaptability to modern techniques, and the deep‑rooted culture that has made Los Gatos the only public school regularly competing with private institutions in the West Catholic Athletic League.
Beyond the field, alumni have gone on to excel at elite colleges such as Northwestern, Cornell and New York universities, underscoring the program’s role in shaping both athletes and scholars.
