Ruby Rodriguez struck in the sixth minute, delivering the winning goal and marking both her first varsity appearance and the program’s first season‑opener goal since 2020.
Between the lines, the backline held firm. Goalkeeper Tristyn Edgein turned away four shots, while senior defender Haile Folk and freshman Sophia Malave combined for a disciplined defensive unit that preserved a clean sheet.
The shutout marked the 34th clean sheet recorded under head coach Dale Mitchell, surpassing the totals achieved during the eight‑year tenures of his predecessors and underscoring the defensive culture he has cultivated.
