A fresh coaching lineup
Loyola Marymount University has announced the addition of three assistant coaches to its men’s soccer program, a move aimed at strengthening the squad ahead of the upcoming season.
Erik Holt returns to the Lions after a stint at UCLA, where he contributed to a program that captured attention for its competitive edge. A former professional with Real Salt Lake, Holt scored his first MLS goal in 2021 and earned All‑Pac‑12 first‑team honors during his collegiate years at UCLA, having also served as team captain.
Shion Jahangiri brings eight years of coaching experience from Vanguard University, where he rose to the role of associate head coach and guided goalkeepers to conference‑leading statistics. His credentials include NAIA All‑American honorable mention, a US Soccer ‘A’ license and a UEFA ‘B’ license, underscoring a blend of playing acumen and technical instruction.
Jack Cybulski transitions from his previous position as director of soccer operations at LMU to the assistant coaching bench. His background includes stints with scouting departments at Orlando City SC and LA Galaxy II, as well as a master’s degree in sports business from New York University, equipping him with a strategic eye for talent acquisition and operational planning.
Collectively, the trio offers a mix of playing experience, goalkeeping expertise, and operational insight that the university believes will accelerate player development and sharpen game‑day decision‑making. Their arrival signals a coordinated effort to elevate the Lions’ competitiveness within the West Coast conference.
