The Loyola University Chicago men’s soccer team opened its 2026 preseason on Saturday, traveling to East Lansing, Michigan, for a 4 p.m. CT exhibition against Michigan State University. The match marked the first public test of a roster that blends seasoned veterans with a wave of fresh talent.
A Deep Returning Core
Head coach Kevin Robson, who was appointed to the position earlier this offseason, guided the squad onto the field, while assistants Nic Powers, formerly of Saint Louis, and Toney Anderson, a recent hire from High Point, supported the tactical setup.
Returning players anchor the lineup: senior midfielder Jack McFeely, who led the team in goals, assists and shots last season, senior forward Petar Janjic, who contributed five points and 18 shots, junior midfielder Luka Ivancic, a six‑point performer, and junior defender Nicholas Roe, who will stabilize the backline.
New Faces and Fresh Ambition
The roster also welcomes 13 newcomers, among them goalkeepers Max Ionita and Ori Yedlin, defenders Cohen Havill and Lucas Webb, and versatile midfielders/defenders Braeden Wright, as well as additional recruits who add depth and speed.
The preseason schedule will conclude with a home game against Indiana on August 15, after which the regular season kicks off on August 20 with a contest against Green Bay. Loyola will then host Northern Illinois, Milwaukee and DePaul before heading to Omaha for the Jesuit Invitational against Santa Clara and Gonzaga.
Atlantic 10 conference play begins on September 19 with a matchup against Fordham, and the Ramblers are slated to meet Davidson, St. Bonaventure and Dayton later in the campaign, setting the stage for a competitive year.

With a balanced mix of experience and youthful energy, the Ramblers hope to translate their preseason momentum into a strong showing in the Atlantic 10 and beyond.
