LS7 Sticks In For Charity Brings Hockey Community Together for Youth Sports

Olympic champion Laura Stacey headlines seventh annual fundraiser in Etobicoke, targeting $177,777 to expand sports access for young people.

The seventh annual LS7 Sticks In For Charity tournament took place in the Toronto suburb of Etobicoke, bringing together players, Olympians and community members to champion access to sport for young people. Hosted by Olympic gold‑medalist and 2026 Walter Cup champion Laura Stacey, the event combined on‑ice competition with a clear charitable mission.

Stacey emphasized that one opportunity can change the course of a young person's life, setting an ambitious fundraising goal of $177,777 for this year. Proceeds will benefit KidSport Ontario and the Quebec‑based organization FitSpirit-Fillactive, both of which work to remove financial barriers that keep many children out of organized sport.

A Tournament Built on Competition and Community

The on‑ice action featured some of the league’s brightest talents, including Marie‑Philip Poulin, Sarah Fillier, Blayre Turnbull, Jamie Lee Rattray, Lauren Messier, Jessica DiGirolamo, Shiann Darkangelo, Elaine Chuli, Maureen Murphy, Emma Woods and the recently retired Savannah Harmon. Former PWHL Toronto goaltender Erica Howe noted the event’s evolution from a modest gathering to a vibrant showcase of talent and camaraderie.

Participants repeatedly highlighted the competitive spirit that defined the games, even as the charitable purpose remained front‑and‑center. Since the tournament’s inception, organizers have raised more than $211,000, a testament to the community’s willingness to support youth sport.

Looking ahead, the LS7 Foundation will host its second annual Montréal tournament on August 29 in Verdun, extending the reach of the initiative to Quebec’s south‑west region. The foundation’s growing network of partners and volunteers signals a sustained commitment to expanding sport participation across the country.
