Diego Velazquez, a right‑handed reliever who earned Freshman All‑Big Ten honors at the University of Southern California, signed with the Tigers on June 16 after entering the transfer portal.
During his lone season with the Trojans he posted a 4.26 ERA, struck out 39 batters in 15 outings and walked just nine in 31.1 innings, numbers that stood out for their efficiency.
His ability to limit walks was especially appealing after LSU’s relief corps struggled with free passes and errant pitches throughout 2026.
What the Addition Means
