LSU Ends Home-and-Home Deal with Arizona State
LSU has officially called off a scheduled home-and-home football series with Arizona State that was slated for the 2029 and 2030 seasons. The decision was reached mutually, and the Tigers will not incur any cancellation fee.
The original contract had stipulated a $100,000 penalty for each game if the agreement was broken more than 24 months before the planned dates, but the two schools opted to scrap the arrangement without financial repercussions.
With the series removed, LSU’s 2029 non‑conference slate is now locked in with matchups against SMU, Rice and McNeese, while the 2030 slate will open at home against Tulane on August 31.
Arizona State retains home games against Northern Arizona and San Diego State in 2029, but its non‑league schedule for 2030 stands empty after the cancellation.
The two programs first met in 2005, a game that was relocated to Arizona State because of Hurricane Katrina, adding a layer of shared history to the now‑dissolved partnership.
LSU had pushed the series back to 2029‑30 in part to free up space on its 2016 schedule, allowing the Tigers to host Wisconsin at Lambeau Field, a marquee neutral‑site matchup.
