LSU’s soccer squad slipped to a 1‑0 defeat against Arizona State on Thursday night, extending their early‑season record to 1‑4‑0.
The decisive strike
The only goal came in the 29th minute when Emmie Ennis struck unassisted, catching the Tigers off guard.
Despite controlling 52 percent of possession, LSU managed just three shots on target from a total of ten attempts, a scarcity that proved costly.
Goalkeeper Kennedy Zorn turned away early threats, saving shots from Ryann Denecour and Allie Fryer in the first half, and later denied Ava Galligan’s late surge with her third stop of the match.
The second half saw a flurry of chances, as Berglind Hlynsdottir, Fryer, Denecour and Ryleigh Albin each tested Zorn, but the defense held firm.
Arizona State finished with a 15‑10 shot edge and eight corner kicks to LSU’s single corner, underscoring the Tigers’ struggle to convert possession into scoring opportunities.
The two teams will meet again on Sunday, August 30, at 12 p.m. CT in the same venue, giving LSU a chance to rebound.
