A New Chapter for the Privateers
The University of New Orleans officially became LSU New Orleans in July 2026, entering the LSU system while preserving the Privateers brand that has defined its athletics for decades.
The 2026‑27 women’s basketball schedule was released this week, revealing a road‑heavy opening stretch that pits the team against three SEC powerhouses — Arkansas, Alabama and Texas A&M — before it ever steps onto its home court.
November will bring a trio of home non‑conference contests against Tulane, Tulsa and Oral Roberts, giving fans a first taste of the team’s chemistry in front of local supporters.
December features two road trips to Florida, where the Privateers will meet Bethune‑Cookman and West Florida, followed by a short homestand against Texas A&M‑Corpus Christi and UTRGV as part of the Southland Conference slate.
Season Outlook
The regular season winds down with a final conference road game at Southeastern on February 27, after which the squad will travel to Lake Charles to compete in the Southland Tournament on March 8.
Coach Powell and the coaching staff have framed the schedule as a test of resilience, emphasizing that each early road battle is designed to forge depth and confidence before the home stretch.
