A New Chapter for LSU Basketball
LSU’s men’s basketball program continues to expand its global footprint, landing a fresh commitment from 19‑year‑old Croatian forward/center Michael Ruzic. The announcement comes as the Tigers look to blend international flair with the physicality of the SEC, signaling a strategic push to attract top talent from beyond U.S. borders.
Ruzic spent the most recent season with Joventut in Spain’s Liga Endesa, where he appeared in 25 games and posted averages of 6.5 points and 3.8 rebounds. He shot 54.7% from the field and 40.7% from three‑point range, numbers that speak to a polished offensive skill set despite his young age.
Versatility and Professional Background
Coaches praise his ability to play both power forward and center, giving the staff flexibility in lineups that demand size and mobility. Having logged minutes in the EuroCup — a competition just below the EuroLeague — Ruzic brings a level of professional experience that few freshmen can claim.
He also tested the NBA waters at the 2025 NBA Draft combine before deciding to remain in Europe for another year, a move that underscores his desire to develop further before making the jump to the United States.
Fit Within a Growing International Class
Ruzic joins Marcio Santos and Saliou Niang as the third overseas recruit in LSU’s current class, a cohort that the coaching staff believes will help elevate the program’s depth and competitiveness. His youth and adaptability suggest he could become a key contributor as the Tigers aim to contend for SEC titles and make deeper runs in the NCAA tournament.
