A Late Spark for the Tigers
The LSU Tigers opened their 2026 campaign at home, but a disciplined UCF side proved too much to crack.
The match began with UCF drawing first blood in the 39th minute, when Aliysia Lockette slipped a precise strike past the LSU keeper.
Six minutes after the interval, Payton Patrick sealed the win with a composed finish in the 64th minute, extending the lead to 2‑1.
Ava Amsden, the sophomore forward, answered with a curling effort from 25 yards out in the 77th minute, her first goal of the season and the third of her collegiate career, narrowing the deficit but not enough to change the result.
Despite the setback, the Tigers showed resilience and will look to build on the moments of attacking spark as they head into the next fixtures.
