Regional Recognition
The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association recently announced its All-Region teams, and Lubbock Christian University celebrated three of its own earning the honor. Aaron Rubio earned a spot on the First Team, while Jorge De Los Santos and Hudson Grace were placed on the Second Team, underscoring the program’s continued presence on the national stage.
Rubio’s Dominant Pitching
Rubio’s 2026 campaign was nothing short of dominant. He finished the season with a 10-1 record, a 3.27 earned run average and 70 strikeouts across 82.2 innings. The right-hander also tossed three complete games, two of which were shutouts, and his consistency earned him Lone Star Conference Pitcher of the Week twice and the NCBWA South Central Region Pitcher of the Week honor on two occasions.
De Los Santos at the Plate
At the plate, De Los Santos provided a steady spark. He batted .339 and posted a team-leading .468 on-base percentage, driving in 51 runs while scoring 57. His extra-base hit total included 11 doubles, a triple and eight home runs, contributing to a .538 slugging percentage that ranked among the squad’s best.
Grace’s Power Surge
Grace, in his rookie year with the Chaps, emerged as a power threat. He posted a .365 batting average and a .460 on-base rate, adding 19 doubles, seven triples and seven home runs to his line. The outfielder also walked 29 times and crossed the plate 49 times, driving in 42 runs as the team’s slugging leader.
The Chaps closed the season at 34-23, a record that secured their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance and marked the seventh time in program history they have reached the national stage. The combination of pitching excellence and balanced hitting positions the team as a contender heading into the next campaign.
