A Promising Future
Lucas Grimsley, a 6‑foot‑5 senior from Sewickley Academy, has signed a letter of intent to continue his basketball career at Kenyon College, a private liberal arts institution in Gambier, Ohio.
During his high school tenure, Grimsley helped the Warriors capture multiple championships and finished with a career total of over 1,100 points, while maintaining a 3.7 GPA and shooting 46.8% from the field, including 60% on two‑point attempts and 41.4% on three‑pointers.
The recruit cited the college’s unique blend of rigorous academics and competitive athletics as the decisive factor in his decision, noting his intention to major in finance and pursue a career in business and wealth management.
Beyond the court, Grimsley has served as treasurer of the Stocks Club, contributed as an assistant coach for the Urban Impact AAU seventh‑grade team, and is one of three siblings who share his passion for basketball, including twin brothers Eli and Leyland.
Kenyon College, a founding member of the North Coast Athletic Conference, emphasizes the development of both men’s and women’s programs, a philosophy that resonated with Grimsley’s own aspirations.
Coach Mike Iuzzolino praised the young player’s leadership and work ethic, stating that Grimsley “made everyone around him better,” a sentiment echoed by teammates and peers alike.
