Siena College’s men’s soccer program has announced the signing of midfielder Lucas Horja for the upcoming season, a move that adds depth and local flavor to a squad that just completed a breakout year.
Head Coach Graciano Brito emphasized Horja’s regional roots, noting that the Guilderland native brings a blend of technical skill and familiarity with the Capital Region that the coaching staff believes will complement the existing midfield.
Horja’s path to the Saints includes a season at Fairleigh Dickinson University, where he spent 2025 without appearing in a match, followed by a standout youth career that saw him train with top developmental outfits and earn recognition as Oakwood Soccer Club’s leading scorer across two campaigns.
Beyond club experience, he spent over four years with Hartford Athletic Academy, earned a place on the MLS NEXT roster, and gained European exposure during a training stint with Romania’s CSM Ceahlăul Piatra Neamț, where he refined his attacking instincts.
A Boost for the Midfield
The Saints enter the new campaign riding the momentum of a historic season that delivered the program’s first MAAC Championship and a first NCAA Tournament appearance, and the addition of Horja is viewed as a key piece in maintaining that upward trajectory.
With his technical ability, regional ties, and proven scoring record, Horja is expected to inject fresh energy into the midfield and help the team build on the success that has put Siena on the national stage.
