The College of Southern Idaho men's basketball program has secured the commitment of Luka Solomun, a 6‑foot‑2 combo guard from Serbia, for the 2026‑27 season. The signing adds a player known for his energetic presence, sharpshooting and knack for generating steals.
Championship pedigree from the Balkans
Solomun honed his craft within the BC Mega academy, one of Europe’s most respected player development pathways, where he captured two Serbian U17 titles and two U19 championships while being named MVP of the national high‑school tournament.
His senior debut came at 18 with OKK Beograd in the Serbian first division, and he earned a place on the extended U18 national team, later competing in the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup and receiving an invitation to the Serbia U20 squad.
A coach’s perspective
Coach Jeff Reinert, who has already brought in two recruits for the upcoming campaign, described Solomun as a guard who can stretch the floor and defend multiple positions, calling him a natural fit for the team’s up‑tempo style.
Solomun said he views the opportunity at CSI as a chance to grow both as a player and as a person, noting that wearing the CSI jersey allows him to represent his country while pursuing his basketball ambitions.
The addition marks the third recruit announced by the program and the second guard, underscoring the coaching staff’s focus on bolstering backcourt depth ahead of the new season.
