Luke Almodovar, a transfer guard from Southeast Missouri State, is poised to make his debut for the Memphis Tigers this upcoming season, and his enthusiasm is already palpable.
A Transfer With a Vision
Almodovar spent four seasons as the leading scorer for Southeast Missouri, averaging 14.1 points per game and becoming known for highlight‑reel dunks that captured the attention of fans nationwide.
Although his three‑point accuracy dipped during his first year in Division I, he attributes the decline to a peripheral role and shot selection, and he believes a fresh environment at Memphis will give him more favorable looks.
Memphis head coach Penny Hardaway has taken notice of Almodovar’s athleticism, praising the guard’s potential to stretch defenses and finish above the rim.
His objectives for the season include sharpening his perimeter shot, showcasing his dunking prowess and helping the Tigers climb the conference standings.
