Georgia Bolsters Coaching Roster with Luke Bonfield
Luke Bonfield, a 31‑year‑old former player and seasoned coach, has officially joined the University of Georgia’s baseball staff, where he will oversee offensive development, lead recruiting initiatives, and work directly with the outfielders.
Bonfield arrives after six years at the University of Tennessee, where he helped the Volunteers secure five NCAA Tournament berths and three trips to the College World Series, contributing to a culture that consistently ranked among the nation’s elite.
A Legacy of Success
Prior to Tennessee, he served as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at the University of Pittsburgh, a stint that culminated in a 33‑24 record and the setting of multiple offensive benchmarks in 2026.
Before his coaching career, Bonfield played collegiately at Arkansas from 2015 to 2018, forming part of the Razorbacks’ 2018 national runner‑up team and appearing in 205 games with a .287 career batting average.
A native of New Jersey, Bonfield was drafted by the New York Mets in 2014 after a standout high school career that made him a top prospect.

He and his wife Kathryn are parents to a five‑month‑old daughter named Joelle, who will be growing up in the Athens community.
