A Season of Excellence
Luke Gremelspacher, a senior at Guerin Catholic High School in Indianapolis, was recently presented with the L.V. Phillips Mental Attitude Award for Class 3A Baseball, an honor that recognizes both competitive spirit and character.
On the diamond, Gremelspacher served as a pitcher and first baseman, finishing the season with a 1.13 earned run average over 31 innings while striking out 41 batters and walking only eight.
His academic record was equally impressive, graduating with a weighted GPA of 4.21 and earning membership in the National Honor Society, which opened doors to scholarships from Indiana Wesleyan University, including the President’s Scholarship and a men’s baseball award.
Beyond athletics and academics, Gremelspacher amassed more than 150 hours of volunteer service throughout his high school career, demonstrating a commitment to community engagement.
The son of Christopher and Monica Gremelspacher of Kokomo, he will continue his baseball journey and pursue a degree in science with a pre‑physical therapy track at Indiana Wesleyan University.
A Legacy of Leadership
The L.V. Phillips Award commemorates the late L.V. Phillips, who led the Indiana High School Athletic Association as commissioner from 1945 to 1962, and the award’s presenting sponsor, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, contributed a $1,000 scholarship in Gremelspacher’s name.
