AI That Moves With You
Lumistar has unveiled the Carry, a compact AI‑driven basketball trainer that brings a new level of responsiveness to solo practice. By merging computer vision with real‑time coaching, the device reacts instantly to a player's movements, offering a dynamic alternative to traditional repetition‑based drills.
Four outward‑facing cameras capture the player and the ball in 2K HD, while a dedicated tracking camera monitors the ball's trajectory. An advanced motor system then delivers passes that replicate human‑like velocity, spin and height, syncing with the athlete's natural rhythm.
Portable Powerhouse
Weighing just 77 lb (35 kg) and featuring a built‑in handle with wheels, the Carry can be rolled onto any court and ready for use in under a minute. Its carbon‑fiber and aluminum alloy frame provides stability without sacrificing mobility, making it far more convenient than bulky, fixed‑installation systems.
Safety is built in: AI sensors detect when a person enters a predefined protection zone and automatically pause ball delivery, while a non‑friction feeding mechanism protects size‑6 and size‑7 basketballs from wear and tear.
All training sessions are logged automatically, storing shot data, performance heat maps and AI Coach feedback. Users can control the unit through a 10‑inch touchscreen or the Lumistar app, which also offers preset workouts organized by distance, court angle and mixed shooting sequences.
Early adopters can secure the device on Kickstarter at a starting price of $2,499, with shipments scheduled for November provided the campaign meets its funding goals.
