The New Mexico Goatheads announced this week that forward Lynden Breen has committed to the club for the 2026‑27 season, adding a proven scorer and veteran presence to their roster.
A collegiate journey
Breen spent five seasons with the University of Maine, serving as team captain during his final two years and helping the Black Bears secure back‑to‑back NCAA Tournament berths. Over 144 career games he amassed 115 points, highlighted by a 2022‑23 season that yielded 21 goals and 36 points and earned him Hockey East Second Team honors.
Professional transition
Following his college stint, Breen signed an American Hockey League contract with the Hershey Bears before making his professional debut late in the 2024‑25 season with the South Carolina Stingrays. He then completed a full 2025‑26 campaign with the Stingrays, recording 25 points (four goals and 21 assists) across 59 games.
Looking ahead
Goatheads head coach expressed confidence that Breen’s blend of leadership, offensive skill and experience will bolster the team’s attack as they aim to climb the league standings. The club hopes his collegiate pedigree and prior AHL exposure will translate into immediate impact for the 2026‑27 season.
