The Lynnville‑Sully baseball team continued its winning ways, improving to four straight victories with a 15‑5 rout of Baxter on Tuesday night.
Connor Deal earned his first varsity pitching win, throwing 4 ⅓ innings of relief and limiting Baxter to no runs.
JD Richards led the offense with three hits, four runs scored, two doubles and a stolen base, contributing several RBIs that helped the Hawks pull away early.
Offensive Firepower
Carsen Kottenstette added a double and two RBIs, while Gavin Olea delivered two hits, two runs and two RBIs, and Ashton Rozendaal contributed a triple and three RBIs.
The team’s batting depth was evident as seven different Hawks recorded at least one hit and ten scored at least one run, a pattern that has defined their recent stretch.
The victory also marked the second straight game in which the Hawks chased the opposing starter before the third inning, a testament to their aggressive approach at the plate.
With a 5‑2 record heading into the next week, the Hawks are set to travel to face Iowa Valley and Belle Plaine, opponents they have already beaten this season.
Coach Jeremy Moffit praised the pitching staff, noting that both Connor Deal and Jordan Dunsbergen have shown poise in high‑pressure situations, while reliever Olea secured his first save of the season.
The defense also stepped up, limiting Baxter to eight hits and capitalizing on three errors that turned potential rallies into outs.
