Mackay Stadium to Host Quadruple-Header of Nevada High School Football
The usual summer camp schedule at Mackay Stadium has been swapped for a rare quadruple-header of high school football this Saturday, as the ongoing construction of the Wolf Pack’s indoor Fieldhouse forces the venue to open its doors for a special series of games.
The action kicks off at 10 a.m. with a clash between South Tahoe (3A) and Wooster (4A), followed at 1 p.m. by a much-anticipated rematch of last year’s 4A state championship between McQueen and Pinecrest Academy’s Sloan Canyon. Later in the afternoon, North Valleys (4A) will meet Lowry (3A) at 4 p.m., and the evening will close with Spanish Springs (5A state champion) taking on Carson (4A) at 7 p.m.
Rematches and Rivalries Set the Stage
McQueen head coach Matt Marner has described Mackay Stadium as the second-best football environment in Nevada, underscoring its significance for the competing teams. His counterpart, North Valleys head coach Brad Rose, notes a personal connection, recalling that his program once called the stadium home when it competed in the 3A division.
For many of the young athletes, this weekend represents the only realistic chance to experience the iconic venue, aside from the possibility of a future state championship appearance, making the event a milestone in their careers.
Tickets are priced at $14 for adults and $8 for students, and can be purchased at the box office or through each school’s dedicated ticketing page.
