Pepperdine University's women's soccer program has announced the addition of Maddi Desiano to its coaching staff, slated to begin ahead of the 2026 season. The move brings a blend of championship experience and professional insight to the Waves' sideline.
A Champion's Path
Desiano arrives after a distinguished collegiate career at UCLA, where she helped the Bruins capture the 2022 NCAA National Championship and secured two PAC 12 titles. The 2022 graduate was selected 48th overall in the NWSL Draft, marking the start of a professional journey that has spanned three continents.
Her first professional stint was with the Houston Dash in Texas, followed by a year and a half in Denmark's top division with Odense Boldklub. More recently, Desiano has been active in the USL Gainbridge Super League, turning out for Spokane Zephyr FC.
Beyond the Pitch
Off the field, Desiano has added author to her résumé with the release of "Bend Never Break," a narrative that chronicles the 2022 UCLA Women's soccer run to the national title. The book offers a personal look at the pressures and triumphs that defined that historic season.
Speaking about the new hire, Pepperdine's athletic director praised Desiano's commitment to developing student‑athletes both on and off the field. "Her experience at the highest levels of the game, combined with her storytelling ability, will enrich our program and inspire our players," the statement read.
