State Championship Series Highlights
This week, baseball and softball teams across Madison County are wrapping up their seasons, with several squads still in the hunt for state titles.
In the MAIS 4A State Championship series, MRA fell to Magnolia Heights in the opening game, setting the stage for a tightly contested showdown.
Jackson Academy’s campaign also met its end when the team dropped a MAIS 4A DI semifinal to Magnolia Heights, concluding a season marked by strong performances.
Meanwhile, Jackson Prep was eliminated by MRA in the same DI semifinals, a result that shifted the series dynamics.
Tri‑County Academy entered the MAIS 3A DI State Championship series against Columbia Academy but lost the first matchup, leaving the title race open.
On the softball side, Germantown’s 7A team was defeated by Hernando in the MHSAA semifinals, ending their championship aspirations.
The rosters featured standout athletes such as Rhett Taylor, Alex Lambert, Kade Buchanan, Maddox May, Deuce Jenkins, Hayden Davidson, Sawyer Petit, Annika Tuggle and Maryn Burge, who contributed throughout the competitive week.
Statewide, the Mississippi State athletics department continues to support these high school programs, underscoring the role of public institutions in fostering local sports.
