A New Era of Light and Fun at Warner Park
The collegiate summer baseball team known as the Madison Mallards opened its 2026 campaign on May 25 at Warner Park, where they faced the Wausau Woodchucks in front of a modest crowd. The game ended in an 8‑3 loss, but the result only served as a prelude to a schedule packed with community‑focused activities.
A week later, the Mallards are set to host the Woodchucks again on June 5, transforming the venue into a “Duck Pond” atmosphere that blends baseball with seasonal festivities. The matchup is part of a series of theme nights that the franchise hopes will draw larger audiences throughout the summer.
Central to the visual experience is the Light Wings project, a light‑show system designed by Adrian Pere. The installation provides shade and a dynamic backdrop for evening games, enhancing the ballpark’s ambience while showcasing local talent.
Beyond the on‑field action, the team has announced a slate of promotional events. A whimsical ogre‑themed drone show is scheduled for June 6, followed by a bobblehead giveaway on Pride Night on June 13, promising fans both spectacle and collectible memorabilia.
