Maine Football Reboots Ahead of 2026 Season
Practices for the University of Maine’s football program have officially resumed as the team gears up for the 2026 campaign, marking the first on‑field work since the previous season concluded.
Among those back on the field is junior running back Nick Laughlin, who has been sidelined for nearly ten months after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in a touchdown run against Merrimack.
Laughlin, a native of Cape Elizabeth, described the moment he stepped onto the practice field as a relief and a step forward after a long rehab period, expressing eagerness to contribute again.
Head Coach Jordan Stevens welcomed the return, noting that Laughlin’s presence adds depth to the backfield and reinforces the squad’s optimism as the new roster takes shape.
The coaching staff and medical team have been closely monitoring his progress, and early reports suggest he is fully fit, setting the stage for a potentially impactful season.
