A demanding nonconference slate
The University of Maine women's basketball program revealed its 2026‑27 nonconference schedule, a blend of home‑court showcase games and a rigorous road circuit that will test the team early in the season.
The season opens on November 5 with a home contest against Siena, marking the first of seven nonconference games at the Alfond Arena. The Black Bears will then welcome a series of high‑profile opponents, including Oregon, Brown, Virginia Commonwealth University, the University of Pennsylvania and Quinnipiac.
In addition to the home slate, Maine will travel to face Michigan State, Merrimack, the University of Rhode Island and George Washington University, spreading the schedule across the country and providing diverse competitive environments.
Late November will see the team compete in the Daytona Beach Classic, where they will meet two additional opponents yet to be announced, adding a coastal tournament experience to the lineup.
Coach Amy VandenBosch emphasized that the schedule is designed to sharpen the squad's depth, improve non‑conference RPI, and prepare the team for America East competition, while also giving fans a chance to see a variety of styles and venues throughout the early season.
