A Rising Star on the Field
Sarah Sherman, a senior at Mamaroneck High School, entered her first season of official flag football with a mix of excitement and apprehension. Coach Anthony Vitti placed her on the defensive line, a position that initially left her disappointed, but her determination quickly turned that setback into a catalyst for growth.
Her defensive instincts proved pivotal; Sherman anchored a unit that helped the team clinch a Section 1 championship in its debut year, a triumph that underscored her leadership and tactical acumen.

Off the field, Sherman balances athletics with a rich portfolio of extracurriculars. She serves on student council, dances, and devotes time to art, especially 3D clay modeling, showcasing a creativity that complements her athletic discipline.
Her athletic resume spans soccer, basketball, and flag football, all earned at the varsity level, reflecting a versatility that has defined her high school career.
Looking Ahead to Wisconsin
In the fall, Sherman will attend the University of Wisconsin, where she hopes to discuss the possibility of launching a flag football program on campus. The team already has a unique pregame ritual, spinning Michael Jackson tracks and rehearsing his iconic dance moves to fire up the squad.
Beyond personal goals, Sherman envisions the sport fostering community and offering new competitive outlets for students, a vision that aligns with her broader ambition of expanding athletic opportunities.
