Manhattan High's boys' basketball program is opening its doors to the community with a series of summer camps designed for players from elementary school through incoming freshmen. The initiative, overseen by head coach Benji George and his staff, aims to give young athletes a structured environment to sharpen their game before the upcoming season.
Camp Schedule and Focus
The freshman camp will take place June 9‑11 from 12:30 p.m. to 2:15 p.m., targeting those who will join the high school roster next year. A separate middle‑school session for seventh and eighth graders runs from 2:15 p.m. to 4 p.m. on the same days, while a youth camp for students entering grades one through six spans July 6‑9, offering a longer developmental window.
Each camp emphasizes fundamental skill development, featuring drills that cover shooting, passing, defense, and court awareness. Participants can also look forward to friendly contests and a short highlight reel of recent Manhattan basketball action, adding an extra layer of excitement to the sessions.
What Campers Receive
Beyond on‑court instruction, every camper walks away with a commemorative T‑shirt and a basketball, serving as a tangible reminder of their participation. The program also stresses the importance of teamwork and sportsmanship, values that coaches hope to instill both on and off the court.
Registration details are readily available on the Manhattan High district website, where families can secure spots for the various age‑specific camps. With limited space in each session, early sign‑up is encouraged to ensure placement in the desired program.
