The Manistee baseball team captured the District 72 championship on May 30, 2026, finishing the season at 15‑17 but delivering a dramatic finish that will be remembered for years.
In the semifinals, the Mariners edged Evart 9‑8 in a tightly contested game, with key contributions from Landin Sowa, Owen Polcyn and Jacob Bielski.
The final showdown against LeRoy Pine River saw a 5‑3 victory, highlighted by strong pitching from Hoyt Edmondson, who threw 4 ⅓ innings, and solid relief work from Shannon and Adam Olson.
Head coach Dave Edmondson praised the squad’s resilience, noting that “the hard work and preparation paid off” as the team rallied around veterans like Calvin Edmondson and newcomers such as Miles Joseph.
The Mariners now turn their attention to the Regional 36 semifinals, scheduled for June 3 against Harrison, Michigan, before a 10 a.m. matchup on June 6 in Gladstone.
