Manitowoc Man Sentenced to Year in Prison for Card Theft and Drug Offense

Nicholas Arizola’s guilty plea uncovers a tangled scheme involving stolen football and Pokémon cards, amphetamine, and counterfeit money.

A Year Behind Bars

Nicholas Arizola, a 27‑year‑old resident of Manitowoc, Wisconsin, received a twelve‑month prison sentence after pleading no contest to two counts of retail theft. The charges stemmed from the unlawful taking of football and Pokémon trading cards valued at more than $1,300 from a local department store.

In addition to the theft convictions, Arizola was found guilty of possession with intent to deliver amphetamine. The court combined the drug conviction with the theft penalties, resulting in a single year of incarceration followed by an extended period of supervision.

The case took a broader turn when law enforcement officials examined security footage and recovered a cache of stolen merchandise. Investigators determined that the pair had removed seven boxes of football cards, fifteen boxes of Pokémon cards, and assorted items whose total worth approached $1,376.23.

Amber Lutzke, Arizola’s co‑defendant, acknowledged that she and Arizola had jointly stolen two boxes of cards. She is slated to appear before a Manitowoc County Court judge for a scheduling conference later this month, where the next steps in her case will be determined.

During a search of the suspects’ residence, police uncovered a variety of trading cards, drug paraphernalia, and counterfeit currency, further complicating the legal picture. The discovery underscored the intersection of illicit drug activity and the lucrative market for collectible cards.

Manitowoc County Court, the venue for these proceedings, continues to handle a range of criminal matters, reinforcing its role in upholding public safety and enforcing the law within the community.
