A Season of Promise
The Marblehead Youth Baseball 11-year-old all-stars concluded a summer that will be remembered for more than just a trophy, as a cohort of players who first gathered at eight years old completed a remarkable run in the Bay State League.
Under the guidance of manager Carl Iannacci, the squad posted a 6-2-2 record, finishing second behind Haverhill after a hard-fought 8-6 victory over Brookline in the semifinals. Their journey culminated in a gold-medal showdown against South End (Boston), where a narrow defeat left them as runners-up.
Earlier in the season, the team tested their mettle in the Cal Ripken Tournament, advancing to the District Crossover Round before falling to Natick in the final. The experience added to a slate of wins that included five victories as 10-year-olds, underscoring improvements in hitting, pitching, and defense.
The roster, anchored by six pitchers — including manager Carl Iannacci’s son Cam Iannacci — shared time behind the plate between Luke Williams and Cam Oak. Their collective effort earned a spot in the Tournament of Champions as one of the league’s Top 8 clubs, a testament to sustained progress.
Beyond the scoreboard, the coaching staff highlighted the team’s chemistry and competitive spirit, noting how the players represented Marblehead with pride. Their story reflects a broader narrative of youth baseball development in the region.
