Marc MacMillan Takes the Helm of Yavapai Baseball

Coach’s character‑driven approach aims to elevate the Roughriders program

A New Era for Yavapai Baseball

Marc MacMillan was appointed the eighth head coach of the Yavapai College baseball team in August 2025, ushering in a new chapter for the Roughriders program and marking his move to Prescott with his family.

With a coaching résumé that includes stints at Charleston Southern University and the University of Mississippi, MacMillan brings a blend of NCAA experience and a deep respect for the game’s developmental role.

A graduate of both the University of Mississippi and Canisius University, he first became acquainted with Yavapai’s baseball pedigree in 2009, admiring its tradition of athletic excellence.

He describes his role as both a coach and a teacher, emphasizing discipline, teamwork and the classroom‑like environment of the dugout. “Athletics are an extension of the classroom,” he says, aiming to foster excellence both on the field and in the classroom.

MacMillan’s vision hinges on cultivating resilience and preparing student‑athletes for success beyond college, with the ultimate goal of sending players into professional opportunities, including Major League Baseball.

In his short tenure, he has already begun shaping a culture that values supportive leadership, commitment to excellence and a sense of family among the roster.
