Marc Skinner has left his position as head coach of Manchester United Women by mutual consent, just a month before the Women's Super League is set to begin.
A Sudden Exit
The club announced the decision on Tuesday, noting that Skinner’s five‑year tenure saw the team capture the FA Cup in 2024 and secure a historic spot in the Women's Champions League.
Although a contract extension had been signed in 2025 with one season remaining, the parties agreed to part ways, prompting the club to accelerate its search for a new coach ahead of the September 4 league launch.
Under Skinner’s guidance the side finished runners‑up in the WSL in 2023, reached the FA Cup final in four consecutive seasons and made it to the Champions League quarterfinals, where they were edged out by Bayern Munich.
The club’s sporting director praised Skinner’s contribution and said the search for a successor will be completed before the first competitive match, as the team aims to build on last season’s fourth‑place finish.
