Marc Ybarra Named Assistant Coach for UNLV Men's Soccer
Marc Ybarra has been appointed as an assistant coach for the UNLV men's soccer team, a move that adds a seasoned professional to the Rebels' coaching roster.
Ybarra arrives after a four‑year stint in the USL Championship, where he earned a reputation as a reliable midfielder and leader, having featured for clubs such as Las Vegas Lights FC, Rhode Island FC and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds.
Beyond his playing career, Ybarra founded Committed Soccer Training, a program that has helped aspiring athletes reach higher levels of competition, and he guided the Pittsburgh Riverhounds to their first regular‑season championship in 2023.
Championship pedigree and player development
At the University of Michigan, Ybarra was a three‑year captain, a four‑time Academic All‑Big Ten honoree and was named Big Ten Midfielder of the Year in 2021, having contributed to the program’s first Big Ten Championship in 2017.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2021 and was a finalist for the Senior Class Award, underscoring his commitment on and off the field.
UNLV’s coaching staff believes Ybarra’s blend of professional experience and player‑development focus will accelerate the program’s growth and competitiveness in the coming seasons.
