Coach Marci Scheuing Receives Prestigious National Honor
Marci Scheuing, the head coach of Kutztown University’s women’s field hockey program, has been named the 2025‑26 Dr. Dorothy Moyer Women’s Coach of the Year, an honor that celebrates the most impactful coaches in collegiate women’s sports.
The accolade follows a historic campaign in which the Golden Bears posted a 20‑2 record, establishing new program marks for goals scored (101) and assists recorded (67) while maintaining a defensive record that saw them allow just 15 goals all season.
Kutztown finished the regular season atop the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and earned the right to host the PSAC Final Four, where they defeated West Chester before falling to Shippensburg in the championship match.
At the national level, the Bears opened the NCAA tournament with a victory over Assumption before encountering the eventual champions, the Raiders, in the semifinal round, showcasing the team’s ability to compete on the biggest stage.
The PSAC’s recognition of Scheuing as Coach of the Year underscores the broader influence of her leadership, which has also produced five All‑American players — the most the program has seen since 2005 — signaling a sustained rise in the team’s national profile.
