Marcos Paz, a right‑handed pitcher who spent the 2026 season with the LSU Tigers, has entered the transfer portal, becoming the eighth player from that roster to do so.
During his lone year in Baton Rouge he logged 17 appearances, six of them as starts, and posted a 9.20 earned‑run average while walking 27 batters and committing a fair number of passed balls.
His exit comes at a time when LSU is looking to rebuild a rotation that already boasts the return of three proven arms — William Schmidt, Casan Evans and Cooper Morre — and has bolstered the staff with Power Four transfers Diego Velazquez and Landon Hood, as well as freshman Braxton Beaty.
A reshaped rotation
Head coach Jay Johnson, who has guided the program to recent prominence, will now have to integrate the newcomers while managing the departure of a pitcher who struggled to lock down a consistent starting role.
The Tigers’ pitching depth remains among the strongest in the SEC, but the loss of Paz highlights the competitive nature of roster construction in college baseball, where even promising arms can find themselves searching for a fresh start.
What it means for LSU
Paz is expected to seek a program where he can compete for a more defined role, a decision that reflects both his personal ambitions and the broader trend of player movement across the collegiate landscape.
