LSU’s men’s basketball program announced a new addition to its coaching staff on Tuesday, naming Marcus Brock as the team’s Head Basketball Strength and Conditioning Coach.
A Proven Track Record
Brock arrives after three seasons as head strength and conditioning coach at Missouri State, where he oversaw both team‑wide and individualized training regimens. His professional journey also includes stints as an assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Texas and Baylor, as well as a period at Florida Atlantic.
Program Design Philosophy
Will Wade, the LSU head coach, emphasized Brock’s reputation for crafting specialized programs that address each player’s unique physical needs, a skill he observed firsthand during Brock’s tenure at Missouri State. Brock holds certifications in kinesiology, NSCA‑CSCS/CPT, and CPR/AED First Aid, underscoring his commitment to evidence‑based practice.
From the Classroom to the Coach
Brock’s academic foundation in kinesiology, earned from the University of Incarnate Word in 2016, informs his systematic approach to training. He previously played two seasons at Incarnate Word and served as a student manager, experiences that give him a player‑centric perspective. A native of San Antonio, Texas, he graduated with a degree in kinesiology and earned academic all‑state honors at Madison High School.
Looking Ahead
The university expressed confidence that Brock’s blend of technical expertise and player‑focused mindset will elevate the Tigers’ performance on the court. His background, from high school accolades to collegiate leadership, illustrates a career built on discipline and achievement, positioning LSU’s program for continued growth.
