Marcus Dilligard has been named the new athletic director and boys basketball head coach at Hilton Head Christian Academy, inheriting a program that finished last season with a 6‑18 record.
The appointment was revealed by Jay Scarbro, the academy’s baseball head coach, who had been tracking the vacancy and recommended Dilligard for the role.
Dilligard comes to Hilton Head Christian after a tenure at Grace Christian Academy in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he served as both athletic director and boys head coach, overseeing a comprehensive sports curriculum.
A Philosophy That Extends Beyond the Court
He has articulated a vision that uses basketball as a platform for shaping the lives of student‑athletes, emphasizing character development alongside athletic achievement.
The school’s athletic department manages 18 different programs, and Dilligard will lead a staff that includes seasoned coaches such as Ron Peduzzi, who is returning to guide the football team, and Matt Smith, who continues as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach.
John Patrick Peduzzi, Ron’s son, has been added to the football staff to coach wide receivers and defensive backs, bringing additional expertise to the program.
Scarbro’s own legacy includes steering the baseball team to two of its three consecutive state championships, underscoring a tradition of competitive excellence at the academy.
With more than 150 combined years of playing and coaching experience across the staff, Hilton Head Christian believes it is well‑positioned to rebound quickly and restore competitiveness across its sports offerings.
