Titans add veteran cornerback Mario Goodrich
The Tennessee Titans announced the signing of Mario Goodrich, a former Clemson cornerback who helped the Tigers capture the 2018 College Football Playoff title. Goodrich, an undrafted free agent in 2022, has traversed a circuit of practice squads and active‑roster elevations with the Philadelphia Eagles, New York Giants, Denver Broncos and New York Jets before landing in Tennessee. Goodrich’s arrival comes at a time when the Titans are reshaping their secondary. The move follows the release of Jeadyn Lukus, a five‑star recruit from Mauldin, South Carolina, who battled injuries during his four‑year stint at Clemson from 2022 through 2025. Lukus, who started 15 games and logged two interceptions and 11 pass breakups, was waived on the same day the Titans confirmed Goodrich’s contract.
A career defined by resilience
Both players share a common thread of perseverance. Goodrich’s path to the NFL was anything but linear; after going undrafted, he earned a spot on the Eagles’ practice squad, was promoted to the active roster in November 2022, and later experienced releases by the Giants, Broncos and Jets before joining the Titans. Lukus, despite a high‑profile recruiting pedigree, faced injury setbacks that limited his collegiate impact, yet he managed to contribute 61 tackles and a forced fumble during his tenure at Clemson.
The Titans’ defensive coordinator praised the addition, noting Goodrich’s experience in playoff systems and his ability to adapt to multiple schemes. Meanwhile, Lukus’s departure opens a roster spot that could be filled by a rookie or a player from the practice squad, as the team looks to maintain depth heading into the upcoming season.
