Mario Trivella, a shortstop who spent the last season at Florida International University, announced his commitment to the University of Tennessee baseball program, joining the Volunteers as a transfer infielder.
During his lone year with FIU, Trivella led the team with 15 home runs and 50 runs batted in, posting a .287 batting average, a .384 on‑base percentage and a .580 slugging percentage while starting 49 games at shortstop.
Before his FIU stint, the infielder honed his skills at State College of Florida, where over two seasons he hit .324 and contributed seven homers and 44 RBIs.
A Season Defined by Milestones
His decision comes as the Volunteers, under first‑year head coach Josh Elander, put together a 38‑22 overall record and a 15‑15 mark in SEC play, highlighted by series victories over Mississippi State and Texas and an unprecedented 14‑0 unbeaten streak in midweek games.
The Vols entered the Chapel Hill Regional for the postseason, marking their seventh consecutive appearance, but their run ended there.
